Caldera View
Oia, Santorini · Greece
Villa Meridian
Nineteen caldera suites cut into volcanic rock, each with its own plunge pool and a private stair down to the water.
Aurelia Collection · Est. 2012
One hundred and forty-two addresses, each visited, vetted, and re-certified every year against the same five standards. No sponsored placements. No paid stars.
Why Aurelia
Aurelia was founded by a small group of former hotel inspectors who grew tired of ratings that outlived the standards behind them. Every property in the collection is re-inspected in person, without notice, once a year — and dropped without ceremony if it no longer qualifies. We take no commission from the hotels we list, and no hotel can purchase its way onto this page.

The Aurelia Standard
The criteria are fixed and published. A hotel either meets them or it is delisted — there is no middle tier.
No property is listed with fewer than one staff member for every 1.5 guests at full occupancy, verified against payroll records, not marketing copy.
Linens, tableware, and furnishings are inspected for origin and construction — mass-produced fittings disqualify a property regardless of price point.
Minimum suite dimensions, a natural-light audit for every room type, and dedicated quiet hours enforced across shared spaces.
A hotel must express a coherent architectural point of view rooted in its place — not a template repeated across a portfolio.
Confidentiality training for every staff member, controlled key protocols, and arrival routes that avoid public lobbies on request.
Beyond the Room
Every listing is judged on its table and its treatment rooms as closely as its beds.
Dining
Set by candlelight, not by a set menu.
Private Events
A table for two, or forty.
Evenings
Service that lingers, then disappears.
Members, on the Record
"Three stays, three years, and not once has the standard slipped. That consistency is the entire point of paying for it."
— Julian R., member since 2019
"They mentioned a chip in the marble before we'd noticed it ourselves, and it was resolved by the time we got back from dinner."
— Amara K., member since 2021
"I've used other collections. Aurelia is the only one where the photographs consistently undersell the room."
— Peter & Ines D., members since 2015
